What if you could categorize your career skills and have them laid out in front of you all at once? That's the goal of "card sorts," to help you get a clearer, holistic picture of your career and life goals.
What you learn from card sorts is organic and they trigger a deeper level of thinking. As you hold the cards, think about the words, and place the cards into piles, it helps organize your thoughts and discover themes in your life.
In this workshop, each participant will complete a Motivated Skills Card Sort, identifying which skills they love to use the most (and least). Then, participants will sort the cards by which skills they are strongest in and which ones require more training. Finally, participants sort the skills into groups or themes that make sense to them. It's in this final sort where people can see and build on what their value is in the workplace.
We will discuss how to use this knowledge to then create a "value-added statement" for informational interviews, networking, building a resume and LinkedIn profile, plus to prepare for a job interview that highlights your strengths.
Please Note: This workshop is for Harvard Ed Portal members, Allston-Brighton and Cambridge residents, and Gardner Pilot Academy parents/guardians only. Workshop is limited to 20 participants.
