Allston-Brighton Community Scholarships

Harvard Ed Portal members and Allston-Brighton residents—who are at least 18 years old—are eligible to apply for scholarships for any one, 4-credit course at the Harvard Extension School for noncredit, undergraduate, or graduate credit. In addition to an application, each applicant is required to submit a personal statement describing their involvement in the Allston-Brighton community. The scholarship will apply to both in-person and online classes.

Scholarship Details

Application Deadline: The application deadline for Spring 2022 has passed. Please check back soon for more information about the next application cycle.

Offering: Full tuition remission on any one, 4-credit course at the Harvard Extension School for Spring 2022.

Eligibility: Allston-Brighton residents who are age 18+. Applicants must complete a free application for a free membership to the Harvard Ed Portal. Applications can be filled out here.

Decision Notification: Recipients will be notified by email from the Harvard Ed Portal the week of November 1. The Ed Portal will also send out a detailed email to all recipients with instructions on how to register at that time.

Selection Process: Upon review of the applications (through an anonymous process), up to 10 scholarship recipients will be selected by a Scholarship Committee, which is made up of residents and local nonprofit employees.

Partners: A fully accredited Harvard school, the Extension School graduates walk at University commencement and become members of the Harvard Alumni Association.

Please note: Previous Allston-Brighton Community Scholars may reapply, but will only be eligible for additional scholarship funding if there is a lack of suitable applicants for the term. There is a lifetime maximum of 3 scholarships/person.
