Ceramics Community Scholarship

The Harvard Ed Portal and the Ceramics Program, Office for the Arts at Harvard, are proud to jointly offer a limited number of scholarships for two, 14-week in-person courses offered by the Ceramics Program for Fall 2022. Eligible applicants must live in the Allston-Brighton neighborhood of Boston, MA.

Instruction will take place in person at the Harvard Ceramics Program. Clay, glaze, and 8,600 cubic inches of firing will be provided as part of the scholarship. All students enrolled in a Ceramics course agree to comply with Harvard University's COVID-19 policies.*

Please note: Previous recipients of this Ceramics Community Scholarship are not eligible to apply. Harvard invites individuals with diverse backgrounds, experiences, and abilities to be part of our community. BIPOC and/or LGBTQIA people are strongly encouraged to apply.

* Harvard Ceramics Program's COVID-19 Policy:
All participants in Ceramics Program classes must abide by current Harvard University policies and practices to Keep Harvard Healthy. This may include communicating vaccination status, participating in testing cadences, wearing masks at all times during classes, and observing physical distancing where required. These guidelines will change over time, and participants should expect to review and take steps to comply with the most updated guidelines before classes begin and throughout the duration of the term.

Scholarship Details

Application Deadline: Thursday, July 7 by 5:00pm (recipients will be chosen by lottery)

Offered for: Any one, 14-week course offered by the Ceramics Department for Fall 2022 (August 29–December 3, 2022)
Scholarship recipients will work with Ceramics staff to find a course that fits their interests. Specific course descriptions will be available on July 6, but many classes and topics are taught each semester. Look at current offerings on the Harvard Ceramics Program website.

Eligibility: Allston-Brighton residents and Ed Portal Members—ages 18 and older*. No previous ceramics experience required.
*Previous recipients of this Ceramics Community Scholarship are not eligible to apply.

Cost: The scholarship covers the cost of registration, clay, glaze, and 8,600 cubic inches of kiln firing for one session.

Partner: For almost 50 years the Ceramics Program has served Harvard and the greater community with its exciting educational offerings.
