About the Exhibition: Running in the Rain
Inspired by the Haitian proverb kouri lapli, tonbe larivyè, or "running in the rain, falling in the river," this exhibition—featuring paintings and sculpture by artist and human rights lawyer, Suley Wellings-Longmore, and poetry by Seun Matiluko—explores the epic journey many people make from Haiti to the U.S. in search of a better life. The artwork pays tribute to a voyage that for some people can span more than a decade and cover 7,000+ miles, and asks us to reflect on the role we play in bringing about such an appalling reality.

Exhibition on view weekdays April 18 – May 20, 2022.

Seun's poetry performance will last approximately 30 minutes and be accompanied by singer/bassist Devon Gates.

Please note: Proof of vaccination or HUID required; face covering optional.
