Reception: Romance and Reality: Posters from the Russian Revolution

Date:

Thursday, September 28, 2017, 5:00pm to 7:00pm

The Harvard Ed Portal and the Davis Center for Russian and Eurasian Studies are proud to present the latest Crossings Gallery exhibition Romance and Reality: Posters from the Russian Revolution. When the October Revolution overturned the longstanding Russian Empire 100 years ago, posters were particularly useful for getting messages and ideas across to a largely illiterate population. This exhibition explores the hope and passion of the Soviet Union’s early years, as well as the tensions inherent to building a new nation.

Join us for a reception featuring a presentation by Terry Martin, George F. Baker III Professor of Russian Studies at Harvard University and former Director of the Davis Center for Russian and Eurasian Studies.
