Hand to Heart: Mindfulness Through Clay

Date:

Wednesday, January 20, 2021, 5:00pm to 6:00pm

Repeats every week every Wednesday until Wed Feb 10 2021

Location:

Online via Zoom

Come beat the winter blues and have fun working with clay from the comfort of home! In this fun, interactive virtual workshop, ceramics instructor Adria Katz will guide the class with demonstrations of basic clay techniques, and offer an opportunity for you to use clay as an expressive, intuitive material. This is a chance to get a bit messy, explore your inner artist, and be a part of a supportive community in the process.

You do not need any prior experience working with clay, and we will provide all materials to participants (either by contact-free pickup, or delivery to your home).

We strongly encourage participants to come to all four sessions (January 20, January 27, February 3, and February 10). Sign-ups will end on January 15 to allow the Ed Portal enough time to safely send materials to participants.

Please note: This workshop is only available for residents of Allston-Brighton.

Instructor Adria Katz, a local ceramicist, is also featured in this year's virtual Allston-Brighton Winter Market. You can view her work, as well as other products available, here.

Any finished product you make can be dropped off at the Harvard Ed Portal in order to be bisque-fired for you. This will make the clay hard and dry, so that you can use it as a vessel or container in the future. Details about pickup / drop off will be determined once the class has started. However, you can also just come to explore and play with the material, without firing anything.
