Join the Harvard Ed Portal and A Far Cry for an open rehearsal featuring practice, performance, and a panel on what it means to make music in a leaderless context. A Far Cry will be rehearsing their new work, The Blue Hour, by Rachel Grimes, Angélica Negrón, Shara Nova, Caroline Shaw, and Sarah Kirkland Snider. The Blue Hour is an evening-length song cycle based on the poem “On Earth” by Carolyn Forché and features the GRAMMY Award-winning jazz vocalist Luciana Souza.
The panel discussion will feature observations by Steve Seidel, senior lecturer at Harvard Graduate School of Education, Brittany Butler, Executive Director of the Social Innovation + Change Initiative at Harvard Kennedy School, and Alex Fortes, musician from A Far Cry and Harvard College '07. The discussion will be moderated by Dr. Lisa Wong, assistant co-director of the Arts and Humanities Initiative at Harvard Medical School.
