October 13: Odaiko New England
Odaiko New England (ONE) was formed in 1994 and is one of the premier Taiko groups on the East Coast. By combining Japanese aesthetic sensibility with the American spirit, ONE has forged its own distinctive style and voice.

Through storytelling and drumming, this energetic and engaging program introduces audiences to Taiko drumming, and the ways this special instrument is woven into many aspects of Japanese history and culture. Japanese vocabulary such as “Kiai”(vocalization of energy), “Kata” (form and technique), and “Kumi-Daiko” (ensemble drumming) are explained and demonstrated.
