Concerts in the Common

Taking place the 2nd Wednesday of each month at the Brighton Farmer's Market, these family-friendly concerts present an eclectic soundscape of live music and include dance, storytelling, and demonstrations. Produced by the Harvard Ed Portal, this summer's performances include local and regional artists playing R&B, Jazz, Pop-Urban, Rock, Indie Folk, and more!

Concerts are free, weather permitting, and open to the public! We encourage you to bring your own lawn chairs and blankets to enjoy the performances.

Tim Hall is an award-winning musician, performance poet, and producer from Detroit, MI, while honoring Boston as his current home. His poetry draws inspiration from his lived experiences—charting the nuances of blackness, masculinity, and the beauties of life. Tim and his band's music is used to underscore his vivid storytelling with warm neo soul, jazz, and hip hop influences.

Safiya Leslie is bringing new energy and a young soul to the world jazz & neo-soul scene. She is an artist who transcends the norm by infusing her past with her future, and flavoring her sounds with musical dialects hailing from jazz and her Afro-Caribbean roots. Safiya and her influential band possess jazz chops, urban attitudes, and Caribbean beauty.

Marquis Lavoie is the indie/folk project by Boston based singer-songwriter Greg Marquis. While primarily known as the impassioned frontman of local post-hardcore band Actor Observer, Marquis' solo project conversely is a consoling blend of delicate fingerpicking and wilting vocals.

September 13—CANCELED due to thunderstorms

In March 2022, guitarist and vocalist Justin Schaefers, spoke into the mic at Northeastern University's Afterhours venue, "I'm not used to playing on a stage this big!" Just six months later, Winkler graced the positively giant stage at the University's Common Cents music festival. This rapid growth categorizes the past year for one of Boston's most exciting indie rock bands.
